Silk underdress 1805 - 1810 | This is what goes under all those sheer Regency dresses.

Underdress Date: Culture: British Medium: Silk Credit Line: Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Gift of the Brooklyn Museum, Designated Purchase Fund, 1983 Accession Number:

Stays, United States, late 18th century. Linen plain weave, silk thread, baleen, linen tape, leather, metal hooks. The cross-boning in these lightly boned stays would have created the fashionably round bust of the period. Pairs of worked eyelets at the side fronts would have facilitated the attachment of hip pads.
