I’ve heard from many women that they were told in their divorce that they gave up the right to their former spouse’s “retirement.” They assumed that this meant they could not draw Social Security retirement benefits off their ex-spouse. Sometimes their former spouse is the one pushing this idea. It is wrong. It is impossible to give up your Social Security rights. The Cleveland Clinic and Mount Sinai hospitals announced they would not be administering this drug, which is an infusion in a doctor’s office, not a pill. With such big names rejecting this drug, I’m shocked that Medicare moved ahead with it. I hope that it proves to work, but the precedent is alarming. Every person on Medicare Part B is paying a few extra dollars each month for this and the prospect of other high-dollar drugs to come. I had a couple in today that are 70 years old. They were very happy with Plan G five years ago, but struggle to afford it after five years of rate increases. With no end in sight for rate relief in the future. The rates will keep going up and 2022 is going to see some horrible rate increases. Many people want to keep their Plan F or G, but simply cannot afford it. Medicare Advantage is a great option and often the only option at that point. While I am joking (just a bit) this is something you need to consider: if your marriage is falling apart and you were the lower income earner, or a stay-at-home parent who didn’t pay into Social Security at all. Please consider not finalizing your divorce until you hit the 10-year mark. It’s truly sad to explain to my clients that they are not eligible for spousal benefits because they were only married 9 ½ years. Stay At Home Parents, Low Income, Falling Apart

For 2022 the earnings limit is $19,560 bucks. For every $2 you go over that amount, they reduce your social security by $1. So if you make $25,000, you went over the limit by $5,500. Your social security benefit would be reduced by $2,500. That’s fine. You’re still up in the grand scheme of things. But if you’re making $100,000, you went over the limit by $80,440. This would reduce your benefit by $40,220 (half the amount) Earnings, Limits, Bucks, Reduced
