Tove Jansson. The creator of Moomin characters. Helsinki. Even though she was a swede/finn I think Moomi's are one of the best finnish things ever. Design, caracter, story, moral and emotional appeal wise.

Tove Jansson August 1914 – 27 June was a Swedish-speaking Finnish novelist, painter, illustrator and comic strip author. Jansson is best known as the author of the Moomin books for children.

It is very hard to keep a secret from your family. “One ought to have the right to discover a secret, keep it under wraps for a while, and then spring it on everyone. But if you live in a family, there is no point trying to have secret or arrange surprises of any kind. Everyone knows everything, right from the start, and that’s no fun at all.”
