My favorite animals
Polish chickens aren't actually from Poland, they're a very old Dutch breed, mostly bred these days to be show birds or add a little flare to a flock. They come in an assortment of colors and always are having a 1980's sort of hair day. They have a vaulted skull which means they have an extra piece of bone that creates a dome on the top of their skull that pushes their head feathers outward. This gives the hens a lovely bouffant and the roosters a crazy swoosh of rock n' roll hair
Polish are a very special and unique breed of chicken with their huge bouffant crest of feathers and v-shaped comb. They are tame but their behavior can be a bit wacky since their crest limits their vision. In short, Polish are sweet, beautiful exhibition birds and can be good layers in the backyard flock, but they're not reliable.
