I'm trying to learn to art a little

(Something weird going on with selfadded pins.) Tried to keep a blog to back up the habit, but found it too troublesome, so going to post sketches & stuff here. Probably not worth following, as I'm just a beginner, just feel the need to have a public journal. My aim is to maybe sell a few paintings after I'm middle aged, so got two decades to learn. Now mainly sketching (badly) from photo reference.

Bear sketch from photo reference (don't really do other than photo referencing)

Annie Clark sketch with photo reference. I like the way she turned out unrealistic but pretty. Though she could have used some darker tones. The hair is awful, need to focus on that at some point in the future. Also general technique sucks, but gonna practise. Anni Vilna

Unfinished sketch for my oil painting, bog blueberries & hedgehog. Pretty confident this will be a damn masterpiece. :D though the heghehog seems to need some fixing, the face is not quite right. Want his eyes to have defined irises, so can make them green as I'm making him otherwise a regular hedgehog, when he is actually a spirit of the forest. Meeting him is different from meeting eg the fox or the deer, but no less a blessing. Anni Vilna

A squirrel from photo reference. That crosshatching on the head is horrible, I know. Anni Vilna

Cartoony goat inspired by a scribble & other animals from photo reference. Have to say I like how the bottom three turned out. Been scared of liner sketching until this. Anni Vilna

Aisling Loftus aka Agnes Towler, from Mr Selfridge. Her other eye is trying to run away and she looks a lot more devious from afar. Also the hair may be a bit too tall. Also these are way smaller in real life than computer screen, need to add frames next time I upload something like this. Anni Vilna

My technique sucks, so her hair looks greesy. Need to learn to draw hair at some point. Used too h ard a pencil here also, that's a usual problem. Mariacarla Boscono photo from Vogue Italy, sketch by Anni Vilna
