"There are also a fair amount of plants and nods to animals and travel throughout my home — all things that are important to me and make my space feel like a safe haven that reflects my values. My furniture is mostly mid-century or vintage and creates a nice backdrop for the cozy elements incorporated from my love of prints."
"I’d never lived in a brand new place before. I was a little apprehensive that it would be soulless, especially as I had just spent over a decade living in a former shoe factory in Hackney Wick, but it turned out this new place was the perfect smooth blank canvas for me to work with."
Favorite Element: The front windows looking down on my street feel truly special. They’re west-facing so I’m always in-tune with not only what the weather is currently doing but also what it’s about to do next. The first morning I woke up to a heavy snowfall, I remember just sitting there watching it for a good 15 minutes and feeling like I was inside a snow globe. Definitely a ‘pinch myself’ moment.
There are many physical imperfections that we have allowed to remain even as we started renovating the house (some cracked Italian floor tile for instance). This allowance is mostly due to our budget constraints, but also that we don’t mind honoring the originally usefulness and palette of the home.
Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: My husband and I use it as a pied-a-terre when we are in Dublin. It was very bland when we bought it but with some paint, and the right furniture, we have made it comfortable and spacious.
