Later acquired by Lord Foster, Governor General of Australia, who sold the property to Lionel de Rothschild in 1912. 7 years later, Lionel bought the nearby Exbury Estate. During the 1930s, the Hon. Mr. & Mrs. Denis Berry, Lionel's daughter & son-in-law lived there. In 1943, Inchmery House was the base for the Bardsea operations during WW2. After the war, the house was returned
