The land ceded to #Russia by #Finland at the end of the Winter War. (Shown in red). This ceded territory totaled around ten percent of Finland's land area and twenty percent of its industrial capacity.  As part of the Moscow Peace Treaty of 1940 Hanko was leased to the Soviet Union as a military base for a period of 30 years. During the Continuation War, in early December 1941, Soviet troops were forced to evacuate Hanko. The Soviet Union formally renounced the lease in the Paris peace…
