The very useful (read ahead to find out why) Vampire Spider - Evarcha culicivora. This spider, which feeds mainly on the Anopheles gambiae (mosquito), the main vector of malaria in the region, is of the family Salticidae. It is found around Lake Victoria of Kenya and Uganda. By feeding on blood-filled mosquitoes, its scent becomes more attractive to potential mates. But more importantly to humans is this spider's effectiveness against a major malaria vector.
