Karjalanpiirakka: Karelian pasties are traditional pasties from the region of Karelia. Today they are eaten throughout Finland. In the most common recipe karelian pasties are made of thin rye crust with a filling of rice. Butter mixed with hard boiled eggs (Munavoi) is spread over the hot pasties before eating. Karjalanpiirakka has Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) status in Europe.
