The great pike, from whose jaws Väinämöinen made the magic kantele with which he sang to sleep the forces of the north allowing him to steal the Sampo, as told in the Kalevala, the Finnish national epic. This fresco is by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, painted in 1928. It can be seen in the entrance hall of the Finnish National Museum in Helsinki.
