Ginger Rogers - Born Virginia Katherine McMath in Independence in 1911, Ginger Rogers is known for the many musicals in which she danced with Fred Astaire. In 1941, she won her only Oscar in "Kitty Foyle." Although Rogers spent most of her childhood in Texas, she attended kindergarten and first grade at Benton school in KC.

Ginger Rogers-saw her onstage in Hello, Dolly. Many years later, shared a table at a Japanese restaurant near Palm Springs. Lovely.

Ginger Rogers, dancer & actress extraordinaire. She made a total of 73 films in her long career and is particularly known for her role as Fred Astaire's dance partner in 10 classic Hollywood musical films. As the saying goes, she did everything Fred did, but backwards & in heels!
