Mondriaan (1872 – 1944)

Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow by Piet Mondriaan. He was an important leader in the development of modern abstract art and a major exponent of the Dutch abstract art movement known as De Stijl ('The Style').

1915 - Piet Mondrian In the early 1900s many artists tried various abstract ways of representing reality. Mondrian went beyond them. In his final compositions he avoided any suggestion of reproducing the material world. Instead using horizontal and vertical black lines that outline blocks of pure white, red, blue or yellow, he expressed his conception of ultimate harmony and equilibrium.

Mondrian's studio was tidy and organised, which reflected the creative simplicity in his work.

Mondrian's Trees My favourite series of paintings. Love the point between representation and abstraction and the still painterly style.

This is a typography style inspired by Piet Mondrian's famous works. It is very interesting because it not only uses the colours in an appropriate style in reference to Mondrian, there is also a three dimensionality aspect added in. This allows for the typography to go even further than it's inspiration.
