Tapio, Finnish lord of the forest, son of Louhi, father of the seeda, immortal among his mortal kin. In the early days of the world he hunted down the fearsome Elk of Tuonela and still wears its antlers on his head to honor the goddess of death who granted him his immortality. He knows the fathers and mothers of all animals and is the teacher of hunters. He helps those who listen, but those who do not will find their traps empty.
