A garden is not really a garden until it is shared. Traveling about to botanical gardens, garden organizations, gives me an opportunity to share my photos and shade garden experiences. Meet me at my next talk and say hello

Arisaema fargesii, Himalayan Cobra Lily from presentation "Chasing the Rare & Unusual in Shade Gardens". Collecting is much like dating. You become aware; something in your peripheral vision, a mention in a casual conversation, or perhaps a photo. Best yet an actual sighting. One good look and you are hooked. Gene tells all about the loves of his life as a collector of the rare and unusual in his Southern Indiana Shade Garden.

Sauromatum venosum or Voodoo Lily is one strange and exotic plant. Sometimes referred to in polite circles as Mr.Stinky. One of the many exotics in my presentations.

"Color in Shade: 9 Months of Natives in the Shade Garden". You really can have 9 to 11 months of native plants in bloom and color in your shade garden. Be glad to tell you how at your next garden club meeting.
