I like how some of the text is black over a white background, and some of it it off to the side in a purple/pink box with white writing. I could incorporate this into my magazine by using colored boxes offset with differently colored text inside.:

The continuity of this design is strong because of the unique repetition of the bright yellow on both pages in two distinct ways. I like that the photo of Andy Warhol looks like it was cut out by hand, which looks artsy and personal. The photo to the left of him is a nice touch and gives a good backdrop for the white text.
