If you're going to be a caterpillar, you better be smart about it. In the case of the Abbott's Sphinx Moth (Sphecodina abbottii) caterpillar, their best way to [hopefully] survive their harsher younger years, is to have a big ol' eye spot on their butts.

Another look at the ever popular Venezuelan poodle moth. This moth was first discovered and photographed in 2009 and is believed to be a new species. It's thought to belong to the lepidopteran genus Artace.

This is the recently discovered poodle moth photographed by taxonomist Dr Arthur Anker during a recent trip to Venezuela. Poodle moth isn't its official name though, that's just what people are calling it until it can be properly classified.
