Originally built in 1907, it was converted into a concert hall in 1980. With a capacity of 1,000 people, this has been one of Detroit's top places to see a concert ever since. Originally the place to see alternative bands before they got HUGE ( Blur, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc ) , the audience became a little more diverse in the 90's. I've played both the main stage upstairs as well as the Shelter downstairs once each.
