Adventures in Doubleweave Squares and Checks Here are a few doubleweave projects featuring squares or checks. Be forewarned, this technique can be time consuming but yields awesome results. You will need a rigid heddle loom with two heddle capacity. There are many sites out there that have diagrams to show you how to thread two heddles. You will also need four pickup sticks. Threading two heddles for multiple colored stripes can be tedious, especially when using two 10 dent heddles 😉 but…

Deflection in weaving happens when (intentional) floats curve around areas of plain weave, and doubleweave is the weaving of two layers of fabric simultaneously. I don't remember noticing this before, but the low light angle is really showing it up in this…

How do you weave a countless number of structures on one warp? With an extended parallel threading, of course! This particular technique offers a lot of "bang for the buck" for weavers. All you have to do is modify your treadling and, in some cases, change the tie-up. If you're REALLY ambitious, you can change the tie-up and re-sley as well to achieve Double Weave or Shadow Weave. What is an extended parallel threading? For those who follow the work of Marian Stubenitsky and/or Bonnie…
