Before & After: Restoring a Mid-Century Modern Dresser

When Jamie found this lovely mid-century modern dresser at a Salvation Army store fo only $50, she knew she’d hit the jackpot. Though she didn’t love the yellowing tone of the piece, and the finish was in bad shape (especially on the top), the lines and solid construction made it a great choice for an update.Jamie used Citristrip to remove the old finish, coating the entire dresser then leaving it to sit overnight.

Handsome 1970 Drexel Accolade Campaign style dresser offering a modern yet vintage style. Newly refinished in a dipped style with a natural oak wood top and a moody charcoal finish. This lowboy dresser features stately brass accents throughout including unique recessed pocket handles in the original antique gold. Sturdy and well built piece complete with dovetail joinery. Drawers are built on ball bearing metal tracks and all slide smooth. The top middle dresser drawer includes a handy built-in divider. Clean interior and all drawers are lined with Serena & Lily's Seahaven pattern. Sometimes, you’ve just got to take a chance. When Pati’s sister offered her a large and somewhat underwhelming dresser, she was on the fence. Pati decided to go for it, and with some smartly selected paint, turned this dresser into a gorgeous credenza. From Pati: My sister bought this on our local Facebook classifieds. She decided while moving, she no longer had room for it. She offered it to me and I was a bit undecided. Not only was it heavy, it needed some work.
