Franklin Turtle is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Turtle and big brother of Harriet Turtle. Unlike his other friends, he is not named for the animal that he represents, although it is used in his surname. Franklin is a series of books created by Paulette Bourgeois (illustrator) and Brenda Clark (author). The series focuses on the adventures ofa young turtle named Franklin, his family and friends. The series was introduced in 1986 with Franklin in the Dark, inspired by an episode of the hit television series M*A*S*H.
