Wanted to try some low key work. Shoot through umbrella strobe to the right 1/16th, snooted strobe 1/4 power to the left to light the smoke. Originally planned for the soft light to be the main, but the snooted strobe has also made some specular highlights of the candle and the holder. More by luck than judgement, this has given the whole thing some good depth and contrast.

Some days ago I made low key test shot of a glass. As I wasn't entirely happy I made another session with some black paper on the left and right of the glass. I also put some mineral water in the glass but this time there were no bubbles. Seems that it was a "bad" bottle. If you want to do it properly check out this picture. Next time I'll try this. strobist info: SB-900 with diffusion dome behind black paper, -0.3EV, camera -2.7EV and @f11 to eliminate the rest of the ambient light…
