Ngapeke Permaculture sits on a 16.6 hectare land block known as Ngapeke 7 & is situated in a temperate climate in Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2019 it was decided to regenerate the block using regenerative and permaculture design after 15 years of monoculture cropping with maize. The wonderful thing about working this way is that Nature has a habit of putting its all into repairing the second it finds the opportunity. The team at Ngapeke Permaculture is simply assisting Nature's design after all.
Ten months ago we put a plan together for a food forest at Ngapeke Permaculture. It started with one design element to cover water access, vehicle access in and around the entire area allocated for the food forest, and the berms for planting into. Most of the food forest has been planted out now with a few support species still to go. 10 months down the track and we might even have some fruit this coming summer but we will have to see. Stay tuned for progressive updates!
