To make accurate reproductions of letters using a router, you must first make templates. Routers can be used freehand to cut letters, but without templates letters will look irregular and you run the risk of kickback. By making templates you can produce letters to exacting dimensions, over and over.

Creating signs with a router involves simply carving the letters or designs into the wood.

With this template set, signs from 4" to 12" high and up to 36" long are easily made. The system includes two sets each of 1 1/2" high and 2 1/2" high characters. Each set has proportional character spacing and includes 10 numerals, 29 letters (including duplicates of A, E and I), plus common punctuation.
