Royal Ulster Constabulary was the police force in Northern Ireland from 1922 to 2001. Following the awarding of the George Cross in 2000, it was subsequently known as the Royal Ulster Constabulary, GC. It was founded on 1 June 1922 out of the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC).

… and that's all she wrote! However, I had a look in Jim Herlihy's The Royal Irish Constabulary: A Complete Alphabetical List of Officers and Men, 1816-1922. No sign of a Gore-Hillman or anything like it, but I did find Thomas O'Brien Gore-Hickman, RIC no. 69943. No other information, but he was definitely an officer (name italicised in listings), but can we add any more information? Date: Circa 1900 NLI Ref.: BEA3
