The tulle rugby ball is essentially a circle of tulle (the stiffer your tulle the stronger it will hold the puff!) folded in half and gather stitched along the long end.

I don’t really know I’ve called it the rugby ball. There’s a passing resemblance.

And then attached to the shoulder after you sew in your sleeve.

You can pleat the sleeve into the arm scythe or gather it in. Play around! Arrange the gathers how you like.

If you are using an existing sleeve pattern you will need to lengthen your sleeve so there is enough fabric to fold it back up into itself. The bigger the better here!
