Stuart Sutcliffe The First Fifth Beatle 🖤

23 June 1940 – 10 April 1962 Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe known as Stu Sutcliffe, was a Scottish painter and musician better known as the original bass guitarist of the English rock band the Beatles. Sutcliffe left the band to pursue his career as a painter, having previously attended the Liverpool College of Art. Sutcliffe and John Lennon are credited with inventing the name "Beetles", as they both liked Buddy Holly's band, the Crickets.

The Quarrymen are a British skiffle/rock and roll group, formed by John Lennon in Liverpool in 1956, which eventually evolved into the Beatles in 1960. Originally consisting of Lennon and several school friends, the Quarrymen took their name from a line in the school song of Quarry Bank High School, which they attended. He got engaged to photographer Astrid Kircherr during the band's stay in Hamburg, and later died of a brain aneurism on April 10, 1962 (aged 22).
