Waldorf geometry

Within Waldorf pedagogy, a child is not deeply immersed in geometry until fifth grade. The G5 Geometry is activities are of experiential. We are walking a circle, walking a line, walking a triangle. We are looking at how light hits these shapes. We are morphing our form drawings into geometric shapes. In grade 6, the focus is the compass and straightedge which they are given for the first time. For a broader understanding, our school integrates geometry with other subjects, connects it to nature and real-life applications, and even uses it to illuminate questions about truth.
