Conor Harris on Instagram: "The glute med is important, but I find myself disappointed with how often it gets blamed for so many hip issues.

It’s not solely at fault. If a muscle is supposed to control the action of a joint and/or create that joint action, but that joint doesn’t have that mobility available in the first place, then how is the muscle supposed to do its job??

You can work on your glute med all day long, but until your hip can access the necessary movement qualities, the glute med will always seem “weak” and unable to control the hip.

Maybe your hip is hiking up not because your glute med is weak, but because your hip itself is looking for space to move into a given position you can’t access.

Then your glute med realizes it can’t do it’s job.

If a muscle is weak, does that mean we're more likely to have pain? For example... Do weak hip flexors cause hip pain? Does a weak core cause back pain? Do weak glutes cause knee pain? It's common to hear pain blamed on weak muscles. Megan Dahlman on Instagram: "💥Hip Bursitis💥 What can make it worse? 😫 Crossing your legs or being in any position where your hip bone is wider than your knee - this can put more pressure on a cranky bursa. (This is why quite often women with wider hips and knocked knees can really develop hip bursitis.) 😫 Weak glutes. If your glutes are weak, your leg is more likely to droop inward, placing pressure on that spot. So sometimes, even women with good alignment can still get it simply because their glutes (and the rest of their core!) is weak. Solutions? ✅ Keep your feet/knees spread. You won’t have to do this forever, but as long as the bursa is angry, you should keep as much tension off it as possible. (Sleeping with a pillow between your knees can really help.) ✅ Build up you Hip Bursa Exercises, Bursitis Hip Relief, Knocked Knees, Weak Glutes, Knee Mobility, Exercise For Hips, Best Exercise For Hips, Glute Strengthening, Sore Hips

❤️👉🏼Where are the glutes?
The gluteal muscles (glutes) are a group of muscles that make up your buttocks area.

💪🏼Why is it important to work on your glutes?
The glutes stabilize your hips, core and lower back and are critical for moving, balance, stability, and posture. Weak glutes can lead to back, hip, and joint pain as well as cause knee problems.❤️

Dr. Bonnie Wilder | Virtual Physical Therapist & Run Coach on Instagram: "⚡️ Running is a single leg sport and therefore requires adequate balance and stability in order to prevent injury! Each step we take with running should include the hip muscles to be activated (aka good stability). Stability differs from strength. Stability is trained by having multiple (if not all) muscles (superficial and deep) around a joint co-contract to keep you upright and not allow for any unwanted movement at the hips, knees, or ankles. Poor stability can lead to hip, knee, or ankle pain! ❌ An easy way to train stability is by balancing on 1 leg and performing specific exercise! 👍🏼 🛑 Comment “help” if you’re having hip, knee, or ankle pain! Stronger glutes can help to support the hips and contribute to optimal movement 🙌🏼

Strengthening the glutes have been shown to reduce knee pain too as the hips can play a role in how the knees move ☝🏽

Single leg strengthening is important- if you notice one side is stronger than the other- spend a few more repetitions on the side that needs further strength 👏🏼

I often find many people don’t do enough single leg strengthening. This can lead to asymmetries that can then start to impact movement and potentially increase joint pain 👀

Master with bodyweight first before adding weight. Weight will increase the difficulty and the more weight you use, the harder this exercise will become on not only your hamstrings and glutes but your co Glute Firing Exercises, Glute Strengthening Exercises, Work Out Glutes, Strengthen Glutes, Glute Exercises For Women, Feminine Fitness, Leg Strengthening Exercises, Glute Strengthening, Hamstrings And Glutes

Andrew Harkin. Osteopath on Instagram: "WEAK GLUTE MEDIUS? 🍑

Weakness in your Glute Med has been linked to knee, hip and low back issues 🔗

Often people with weakness through this area will have a ‘hip drop’, where the opposite side to the leg you’re standing on will drop off 👎🏼

A study by Bramah et al in 2018 found that for every 1 degree (I accidentally said 1% in the vid) of hip drop, there was an 80% increase chance of being injured 🤯

These two exercises are a couple of my faves to strengthen this key area 🔑

Aim to do one or both of these exercises a few times a week to build strong Glutes and hit the ❤️ if this was helpful" Workout 2023, Strong Glutes, Glute Medius, Side Work, Therapy Exercises, Physical Therapy Exercises, Health Hair, July 15, Physical Therapy
