Pekka Halonen

Pekka Halonen was a painter of Finnish landscapes and people in the national romantic style. Halonen stated that he never painted for anyone but himself. He felt that “Art should not jar the nerves like sandpaper – it should produce a feeling of peace.

When Jean Sibelius and Aino Järnefelt first chanced upon each other, their eyes locked for so long that she faltered. Thus began the relationship of "the prettiest girl in Finland" and her greatest composer.
