An old village store

Photos by me, Johanna Blåfield, all from an old small village store that my great grandmother had once. (And from an adjacent 1960's house in the Finnish countryside.) I visited the place alone with my camera just before the place got sold.

In the summer I played in this room alone in the empty attic. I'd play the piano (not there) and smelled the scent of the apple trees in the garden (yes, that I didn't imagine).

I have no idea what these numbers mean and I don't intend to find out.

Still life with silk flowers in the left corner. Quiet surroundings. A car passing startled me, easily.

How would a Monday morning start seeing this beside your bed? My great aunt, the nicer one, liked it like this.

This letter my great grandmother opened in her days. Fancy having Storekeeper as a title instead of Widow. She was a tough one.

Behind this attic door my own timeless playing time started - mom, dad and the rest never followed me up here. It felt a bit creepy, though. This part of the building had been the home of my great grandmother and her four daughters for many years. It always felt warm, though disappointing, to return to the sounds of the store and its customers.

This swinging door was not used that much back in the days. Hard to imagine that when seeing it like this.
