Birch Forest Karelia, Finland / Photograph Untitled - Ari Vitikainen on

Salo, Finland

Summer morning at by Veikko Suikkanen Yesterday morning, mid-summer, the longest day.

The entrance to the smoke sauna door. The door handle is a moose antler. Note the birch whisk (vihta) hanging on the wall, with which we smote ourselves! In the heat of the sauna, the vihta produces a wonderful herbal smell.
