When we choose to live in the moment and stay present this season, we embrace all God has for us and we don't miss any of His many blessings on a daily basis. Also, we give our best selves to others while in their presence. But the thing is, we can't do this in our own strength. We cannot stay present this holiday season on our own, but we can with God's help. How can you partner with God today to stay present today?

5 Ways to Stay Present This Holiday Season

We know how full this season can be, and we also know how we can miss the special moments in it if we're not intentional in staying present. In episode 122 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast that dropped early this morning, I share five ways to stay present this season. These five ways will truly make a difference in our holidays if we apply them.
This quote stopped me in my tracks this morning. I'm in an online prayer group each Monday morning, and today one of my friends said six simple but profound words that completely stopped me. Natalie said, "Joyful people are the happiest people." It got me thinking, how's my joy level? Am I filled with joy or am I allowing issues, distractions, situations, or circumstances to rob me of that joy? How's yours today? Live in His joy today, friend, and spread happiness into this world! Every day can be Thanksgiving!
Here we are! The week of Thanksgiving in the U.S. I read a sentence last week that I can't get out of my mind about the New England colonists and their practice of celebrating what they called "Thanksgivings." It wasn't just one day a year, but many days. We discuss this in episode 120 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast that dropped early this morning. In fact, this could truly transform our lives!
I looked around the other day, and everywhere I looked, I saw a mess. The enemy of my soul quietly whispered, "You're a mess and so is your life." I get so tired of his whispers. Do you hear them, too? Instead of allowing his words to sink in, I claimed the truth of God. Sure, life gets messy, but I'm not--nor is my life--a mess. When life gets messy, God is good at turning messes into beauty. Friend, this is for you and your life, too. God Is Good, Sink In, Like You, Good Things, Turn Ons

Think about all the many ways God has blessed you, not just recently but over your entire life. I can't count all the ways, can you? When we live distracted, however, we miss many things--including God's blessings. I sometimes wonder how many I've missed over the years because I was too distracted to see them. Let's live intentional today to not miss another one. All The Way, Distractions, Over The Years

What's one thing you enjoy? When was the last time you enjoyed it? We discuss this on episode 119 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast this week. If we're too busy to do what we enjoy, then we're too busy. I don't say the word "busy" anymore. Even when I write it, I cringe. Because busy used to boss me around, but this is not God's best for us. Friend, do that thing you enjoy. If you can't today, plan for it in the days to come. Then listen to episode 119 for more encouragement. Boss Me, The Last Time

Who do we seek first? God or others? I've been known to seek out the wisdom of others before going to God. Maybe you can relate. What are we needing today? Answers? Help in making a decision? A solution to a problem? Encouragement? Hope? Wisdom? Whatever it is, let's go to God first. Seeking God, God First, Letting Go

How do we know if we're living distracted? One big clue is that we can't seem to complete tasks in a timely manner. Distractions take us off course from what's important to things less important. This includes our work, our prayer time, our time spent with friends and family, and a whole lot more. Today is the day to take back our lives from the distractions that entice us away to less important things. Listen to episode 118 of the Encouragement for Real Life Podcast for more.
