On March 18, 1994, rugged winger Jim Cummins was traded by the Philadelphia Flyers to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Rob DiMaio.
Jim Cummins #15
Jim "King Kong" Cummins was one of the most under-rated fighters in the NHL. He is very tough and all Heart. I've not seen too many fighters more willing to go someone simply to protect their teammates. Jim Cummins comes from the old-school: You hit me and I'll hit you back; I'll hit you and you hit me back. Whoever goes down first is the loser. Jimmy doesn't win them all but his arms move like pistons when he gets them loose.
Classic Draft Picks 1992 - Jim Cummins RW Detroit Red Wings
Acquired by Detroit Red Wings with Kevin Miller & Dennis Vial, for Joey Kocur and Per Djoos. Teams approaching Detroit about a possible trade always want to talk about Cummins. Scouts have been continually impressed by his toughness and desire. Even with strong man Bob Probert a fixture in Detroit there is expected to be room for Cummins in near future. - Classic Draft Picks - #94 - Jim Cummins1992

Jim Cummins vs Craig Berube
On December 21, 1993 the Philadelphia Flyers' tough guy Jim Cummins and Washington Capitals' heavyweight Craig "The Chief" Berube have a rematch after getting into a scrap 12 days ago, a fight in which Berube dropped Cummins with a right hand. The two gladiators squaring off (in fact the squareoff was longer than the actual fight and Cummins seems a bit tentative) during a game at the Spectrum Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
