Honeywort [Cerinthe major] 'Purpurascens' - so-called for the fragrance of its blooms. Inch-long flower tubes surrounded by large, heart-shaped bracts. Plant once danger of frost has passed; honeywort is drought-tolerant but should be fertilized regularly. A favorite of bees and hummingbirds, once planted, self-sowing makes this annual, perennial.
Primula auricula ‘Purple Rain’. Lovely in a large terracotta pot, it will in time fill in to a foot or so across, with typical, succulent auricula leaves.
