The torah is the focal point of the synagogue--kept in the Holy Ark (Aron ha-Kodesh). On Sabbaths, Mondays, Thursdays and holy days the Torah is removed from the ark and read in front of the congregation.  These particular rimmonim probably come from a magnificent Torah mantle that was made for the Sephardic synagogue in Amsterdam in the late Seventeenth Century. David Star- The 6pointed star of David, It is the best known religious symbol of the Jewish faith. The sign is based on the shape of Davids shield or the symbol on his shield. The David star is a relatively new symbol of Judaism, becoming popular only in the last 200 years. It is named after King David, whom legend tells us had a shield with this star on it. Most runestones from the late Viking Age are in fact Christian monuments. Here, a brick from a church in Oslo from about 1300 with the runes ariak. The brick was part of a larger frieze containing the angel Gabriel’s greeting to the Virgin Mary from the Latin prayer: [Ave M]aria g[ratia plena], ‘Hail Mary, full of grace’.
