Art Direction

Type forms the ground floor vernacular of our design language. It’s tricky business. The way an S curves. How that g hangs. What the CAPITALs actually accomplish. Type is Design. It has a job to do, an aspect of the lift it is responsible for. Same as a logo, same as an art direction or the right words, the Typeset must carry a client’s story as well.

The Louis Art Direction
We directed the brand design and visual identity for the hotel, it’s lobby bar Staple, and the rooftop lounge Cottonwood as part of our larger project throughout Wilson to rebrand and reintroduce the town to the modern Delta.

What this crew has accomplished… the amount of things that have to go right for a restaurant to work out… is off the charts. Not to mention timing and some luck, you need a killer idea, great food, better people, more hard ass work than anybody’ll ever see. But also a story and a look and a spirit that stands out. It’s been the chance of a lifetime to help shape Hattie B’s.

Exlines’ Memphis style pizza is a tradition running 50 years deep around here. Ownership came to us last spring ready for a full redesign. We dug in with them to pull out the real story of what this place represents - the families and generations that have defined it on both sides of the counter. From there, we composed a classic visual identity that leans into an 80’s inspired golden age of take-out pizza.

United Auto Exchange
Meet United Auto Exchange, a new dealer auto auction outfit right here in Memphis. Not too fast, not too furious, we hit them with the logo and art direction, but designed it all with the physical space in mind. The environmental branding at their new facility seamlessly expands their visual identify into the physical plant where all the action happens.
Get Baked - Logo Design
Our fine friends at a certain famously Memphis-style pizza parlor came to the right place to design their new baked potato program. After a couple um, “brainstorming sessions”, we wandered back in with these logos, illustrations and branded items.

Some things really do get better with age. Happy Anniversary Hattie B’s! 10 locations and 10 years later, LFB is proud to still be riding shotgun. There isn’t a drop of this brand we haven’t had a hand in, and it is one of the relationships that has defined us.
