Meningiomas are extra-axial tumours and represent the most common tumour of the meninges. They are a non-glial neoplasm that originates from the arachnoid cap cells of the meninges. They are typically benign with a low recurrence rate but rarely can be malignant. Typical meningiomas appear as dural based masses isointense to grey matter on both T1 and T2 weighted imaging, and demonstrate vivid contrast enhancement on both MRI and CT. http://radiopaedia.org/articles/meningioma Tumor, Medical Imaging, Surgery, Head And Neck

Cerebral metastases account for approximately 25-50% of intracranial tumours in hospitalised patients. In many instances the brain is a reservoir of disease when systemic disease is under control, largely due to the blood brain barrier reducing the efficacy of many systemic chemotherapeutic agents. http://radiopaedia.org/articles/cerebral-metastases Medical Careers

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) (also known as hypertensive encephalopathy) is a neurotoxic state occurring secondary to the inability of posterior circulation to auto-regulate in response to acute changes in blood pressure. Hyperperfusion with resultant disruption of the blood brain barrier results in vasogenic oedema, most commonly in the parieto-occipital regions. http://radiopaedia.org/play/3939/case/30870/discussion Stroke Health, Syndrome
