We met this matatu mini bus on a dry country road a couple of years ago when visiting our basket makers. It is dry now in Machakos, but in Nairobi heavy rainclouds have already started gathering in the sky and the air is beginning to smell of rain.

It is very dry in Kenya now. Roadsides are covered in clouds of red dust from the road. Exhausted by the dry season, Machakos people are already anxiously waiting for the rains to arrive and revive the green hills.
