SAN ANTONIO - The senior enlisted advisor to the Army Chief of Staff, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Dan Dailey, took part in a panel on matters affecting the Army enlisted force at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl week Jan. 6, 2018. Sgts. Maj. (ret) Jack Tilley and Kenneth Preston, the 12th and 13th sergeants major of the army respectively, joined Dailey on the panel.

Missouri Air National Guard selects Outstanding Airmen of 2017
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. — The Missouri Air National Guard’s top performers of 2017 were announced at the Outstanding Airmen of the Year Banquet held here Thursday. Maj. Gen. Steve Danner, Missouri Adjutant General, recognized more than a dozen Citizen-Airmen from the 131st Bomb Wing, the 139th Airlift Wing and from Joint Forces Headquarters for their unit-level awards, with his recognition coin, prior to kicking off the evening’s event.
USS Wasp Joins 7th Fleet
PACIFIC OCEAN - The amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) entered U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations Jan. 6 after completing nearly two months of disaster relief efforts to aid hurricane-affected islands in the Caribbean.

EOD Airman receives Purple Heart
After 10 years, Tech. Sgt. Douglas Smits, 90th Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal team leader, received a Purple Heart medal at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo., Jan. 5, 2018. The Purple Heart medal is one of the military’s oldest medals dating back to 1782. It recognizes military members who were wounded or killed in combat.
USACE Quality Assurance checks help keep temporary emergency generators running strong in Puerto Rico
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Shelby Deal leans over a generator hooked up to a water pump station on the side of a twisting mountain road in central Puerto Rico. He notes the generator’s barcode and transponder number, inspects its oil and fuel filters, checks the fuel gauge, and records the number of hours the generator has operated. Finally, he assesses the surrounding area to make sure the grounding wire is properly flagged, the generator is level and no wires present a tripping hazard.
