Homemade red enchilada sauce - Turns out: it's insanely easy. Plus it takes about 5 minutes! Literally! There's honestly no reason to ever use jarred enchilada sauce again - if you make it yourself, not only can you know exactly what goes into it (no preservatives, colourings etc), but you can also adjust it to your own personal tastes.
Homemade enchilada sauce made in the crock pot. This was pretty darn good, I love that you put the fresh onion and jalepeno while the sauce cooks. One change I would make is I felt it was pretty heavy on the chili powder--it calls for a half a cup--so next time I'm going to try it with either a 1/3 or 1/4 cup.
Homemade Enchilada Sauce 2 Tbsp. vegetable or canola oil 2 Tbsp. flour 4 Tbsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cumin 1/4 tsp. oregano 2 cups chicken broth.Heat oil in saucepan. Add flour stir together 1 min. Stir in chili P,cumin,garlic,salt,oregano. add in broth, Reduce heat simmer 10-15 min until thick.Use or refrigerate up to 2 weeks
