The capital of Finland, Helsinki, was bombed several times during World War II but not always by the Germans.  Between 1939 and 1945, the Finnish fought three wars: two against the USSR and one against Germany. The largest raids against the city were the three in February 1944, they were so severe they have been called the Great Raids.

The story goes that 1000 blankets were expected at this yarnbombing event in Helsinki, Finland, but ended up with 7800 and used only about half the pile. After the yarnbombing event all the blankets were donated to the safe house movement.
