Bay El Bey ++ (Bay-Abi ++ x *Naganka) made his own history by earning eight national halter stakes, but his true legacy was in his famed sons which entitled him to the name “The Kingmaker.” In his lifetime, he sired 446 registered foals and 130 went on to also become national champions. This is Colonel Alois Podhajsky, Director of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna from 1939 through 1961. With the help of General George Patton and the US Army, he saved the world's oldest classical riding school and the fabulous Lipizzaner horses from destruction in WWII. Besides that noteworthy accomplishment he was one of greatest horseman of all time. I would have loved to have met him, and especially to have seen him ride.
