One of my favourite Swedish fictional characters: Emil i Lönneberg, turned 50 on Thursday. Emil of Lönneberga is a series of children's novels by Astrid Lindgren, covering twelve books written from 1963 to 1997. The books have been translated in to 52 different languages and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide! <3

Finlandia, Op. 26 is a symphonic poem by Jean Sibelius. The piece was composed for the Press Celebrations of 1899, a covert protest against increasing censorship from the Russian Empire. In order to avoid censorship, Finlandia had to be performed under alternative names at various musical concerts. Titles under which the piece masqueraded were numerous, a famous example being "Happy Feelings at the awakening of Finnish Spring", and "A Scandinavian Choral March."

Drinking coffe from saucer - "60-luvun mummot istuivat kaiken aikaa kahvittelemassa, se on osa lapsuuden muistikuvaa. Mummoilla oli kummallinen tapa kaataa kahvi kupista lautaselle ("tassille"), pistää sitten sokeripala hampaiden väliin ja imeä sitten kahvi tassilta sokeripalan läpi suuhun. Sellaista ei näe enää." - Finland

"Make-believe colors the past with innocent distortion, and it swirls ahead of us in a thousand ways-in science, in politics, in every bold intention. It is part of our collective lives, entwining our past and our future ... a particularly rewarding aspect of life itself." Shirley Temple Black
