Up-ah-yeck, (Johnson) Photo: ca. 1870-75. Johnson was half Lipan-Apache and half Tonkawa. He was over six-feet tall and was Chief of Scouts for all the Tonkawas serving with the U.S. Army in Texas. He is credited with locating the hostile Comanche and Kiowa camp in Palo Duro Canyon in 1874. The resulting victorious attack by Ranald S.
