Sanametsästys; Slap Words! School game. The game is simple. I put our vocabulary words on different colored sheets of tag board. (That way if a word gets mixed up with another stack, it's easy to spot.) Words cards lie on top of table face up. I give a definition or description of the word and the person to find it first slaps their hand down on top of the card, then takes the card and puts it to the side in "their pile". Person with the most words wins!

Call out a word and first person to slap it, adds it to their pile…. vocabulary, sight words, math facts… so many possibilities!I so remember the card slap game!

Reading chains: Every time a student finishes a book, they can write their name, title and author of the book on a strip and attach it to their class chain. Perhaps the class with the longest chain at the end of the year could get some type of reward.
