Wing Commander of Jagdgeschwader 3 Major Heinz Bär photographed in May 1944 is seen here with the Knight’s Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords which was awarded in February 1942 for 90 aerial victories. Bär fought on every German front throughout World War II in Europe and Africa and is credited with 221 aerial victories.
