Stokes aster. Native to the conifer woods on moist, acidic soil in the Southeastern U.S., the foliage is evergreen and smooth. Blooming June-July, and continuing until October if kept deadheaded. Appreciate a winter mulch in areas with cold winter. Best grown in average to rich, sandy, moist, but well-drained, acidic soil in full sun to partial shade. Attracts butterflies. 12-24" high, 18" spread.
