This is a very good example of The New Typography, the 1920s movement in graphic design that was promoted at the Bauhaus. Even though this poster was designed eighty years later in 2002, it shows the New Typography principles of asymmetry and grid layout. Note the alignments of text, the reversals of letters and numbers, and the contrast of type size and colour. These features create movement and energy – the eye moves freely around the design. roughly three main colours used within the design. This is becoming fairly familiar to Bauhaus design. I like that the shapes collide and changes colour? This layout is reminding me of advertising layouts commonly used recently.

DIE FORM: Zeitschrift für Gestaltende Arbeit | The March 1930 issue of Die Form - an important Bauhaus-era design journal published by the Deutscher Werkbund. The Werkbund - or German Work Federation - was an association of architects, designers, artists and industrialists united by the aim of promoting the marriage of artistic endeavour with mass production. This progressive approach brought the Werkbund into conflict with the rising National Socialists and it was dissolved in 1938.
