December 1952 – The New York Daily News carries a front page story announcing that Christine Jorgensen, a transsexual woman in Denmark, has become the recipient of the first successful sexual reassignment operation.
”Oklahoma Onion Burgers” were originally made by Ross Davis who owned and operated the Hamburger Inn on Route 66 in Downtown El Reno, Oklahoma. Davis first began making “fried onion hamburgers” in the during the Great Depression.
In 1936, Bob Wian purchase a small hamburger stand called Bob’s Pantry. In 1937 the first double-decker hamburger was born. Customers couldn’t get enough of it; one fan in particular was a chubby six year old boy in droopy overalls. He would help Bob sweep up in exchange for a free burger. In honor of his young friend, Wian decided to name the Big Boy. Another regular customer, a movie animator, sketched the character on a napkin & Bob’s Big Boy was born.
